Lindapter Hollo-Bolt® was specified for Germany's largest shopping centre.
After a £130 million investment, Ruhr Park shopping village in Germany has been extended, remodelled and refurbished to a high standard. One of the new architectural features is the walkway canopies that are inspired by Japanese origami and reflect colour changing lights to create an airy and cosmopolitan atmosphere.
During the design phase, the structural engineers sought a long lasting connection that could be used to resist wind loads during extreme weather conditions. The engineers researched and evaluated several connection products before concluding that the Hollo-Bolt by Lindapter was the best choice for the application due to having the ICC-ES approval for resisting wind loads and seismic loads in all seismic design categories (A-F). Lindapter’s range of technical approvals and over 80 years’ experience in pioneering the design and manufacture of steelwork fixings provided further confidence for the specifiers.
The installers used Lindapter’s CE approved Hollo-Bolts to attach steel brackets to the steel hollow sections without the need for on-site drilling or welding. Using just standard hand tools was more convenient and it saved the contractor time and labour costs on the project.
