“Cancer Has Affected Me And My Family Since I Was A Teenager.”
I lost my Mum when I was 17 years old, I did not tell any of my friends that Mum was diagnosed. I am not sure why, but I was young, was not sure who to talk too, what do to and the support from charities such as Cancer Research UK was not available.
I just started University when she was diagnosed, for 10 months while she battled breast cancer, I would come home to ‘’play rugby’’ for my local team, but I was spending the weekends with Mum – the 10 months are a blur but I remember the pain and hurt as it was yesterday.
We launched our name a cable campaign so people, like myself could remember loved ones in a unique way. Throughout our partnership with Cancer Research UK, we continue to honour as many names as possible – we are sorry that not every name can be honoured, but we hope the concept of name a cable and why we are doing it for loved ones will resistant with everyone.
