FU galvanised steel conduit used on Network Rail’s Northern Line route

Flexicon's FU galvanised steel conduit was used as part of the power supply upgrade works to Network Rail’s Northern Line route.

The enhancements included new, high-voltage containerised substations, to support an increased capacity of power supplied to the railway, helping to modernise the route and prepare the line for up to 700 more trains to run each day.

Critical to the delivery of the new substation concept was the ability to protect vulnerable data cables that are used to switch circuits to relays.

Equally important was that the cable protection solution specified would be robust enough to protect from mechanical damage during assembly, transport, installation and commissioning.

Our FU galvanised steel conduit solution offered an ideal solution. With its high mechanical strength, flexibility, IP40 rating and inherent low fire hazard properties it offered the perfect combination of strength and reliability.
